There's so much Golf attire to mention, from the golfers cap to the golf shoe, so many different brands and makes that the choice is endless. Unlike the Pro's who wear their Polo shirt for comfort but also for advertisement and never have to spend any money, your average golfer has to fork out to wear the attire that makes them look and feel like a Pro.
This can be quite expensive, unless you shop at the more reasonable retail stores, however most of us prefer quality golfing attire, where price is no issue.
So what constitutes quality golfing attire, lets take the Polo shirt:
Druids Golf.com - Perfect definition of what constitutes a quality Polo shirt
Comfortable: A good golf polo is made with a soft fabric that doesn’t cause rash due to friction. It must also be true to size and not too tight or loose to hinder the golfer’s movements on the course.
Moisture Wicking: An ideal golf polo has a built-in capillary system that works by taking the moisture away from the golfer’s body and towards the outer surface of the shirt for quick evaporation.
Stretchable: A polo is worthless if it doesn’t offer a good stretch. An ideal shirt is built with four-stretch technology- meaning it allows and withstands the forces applied lengthwise and width wise.
Lightweight: A golf shirt is often paired with a midlayer and an outer layer. To avoid excessive bulk, it is best to opt for polos made with lightweight fabrics.
UV Protection: A good men’s polo doesn't let you fend for yourself on a sunny day. It is built with a UV filter that protects your skin from those cancerous rays.
What you should look for in a decent pair of golf trousers or joggers:
Comfort: A quality pair of trousers ensure you stay unrestricted and comfortable during the most intense golf rounds, allowing you to concentrate on perfecting your swing.
Lightweight: Golf trousers should be lightweight and feel soft against the skin and offer the flexibility needed to maximise body movements.
So, do you really need golf shoes?
The answer is no! If you are not playing golf as often as you would like, lets say a few times in the year, then a perfect pair of flat soled trainers would be very practical, especially if you are just at the practice range where you don't have to swing too hard, but keeping good tempo, balance, without the traction, then the trainer is ideal.
However, if you are serious about the game and just starting out, then investing in a good pair of golf shoes is a must.
The technology in modern golf shoes has come a long way. You can now find mesh uppers and outsoles that move with your foot, soft leathers, and incredible styling that's sure to please every golfer.
Spikeless V's Spiked
There's many advantages to having a pair of spikeless shoe as opposed to a spiked shoe. Many golfers these days have both sets of shoes, the spikeless shoe is more often worn in very hot dry conditions, where the upper of the shoe is often made from a mesh material to keep the foot cool, the sole holds great traction as the technology is ever changing for the better, plus they can be worn in the clubhouse, once the soles have been cleaned of any grass or dirt that has attached itself after a round.
The spiked can also be worn in dry conditions but are very often worn on hilly turain and when the conditions are a little on the wet side, as they give outstanding waterproof from the elements, the traction on spiked shoes tend to make you feel more connected to the ground, giving you the confidence to swing hard and fast.
